enough! who is this guy?

I’ve read about Joe Biden previously and tried to give him a chance. Then, last year he decided to tell the world that “you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.” I can’t make this stuff up. I read it, and shook my head in disgust. “This guy is a senator”, I thought? Oh, and he’s a Democrat. I thought everyone told me that Democrats like Indians/Indian-Americans. Hmmph. But “turn the other cheek” and all that good stuff I decided. I withheld judgment on Senator Biden.

Today, I read about Senator-turned-presidential-candidate Joe Biden describing Barack Obama as “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” Seriously?

I try to reserve judgment these days. It seems I’ve learned a thing or two about what it feels like to be misrepresented and all that. But, no. Not here. Too many chances. Who is this guy? And why is he still here?

    surya,
you should listen to what he actually said. therez a comma after ‘mainstream african american’. after listening to it i felt it was different from what the transcript shows. but still, you can feel that racist undertone in what he said. just by putting in perspective of who biden is and how he thinks.

So I’m confident your voting preference is now clearly Republican - right?

I don’t see how that shows him to be a republican. If Mr. Yalamanchili needed a reason not to be a republican he need look no further than the George Allen Macaca debacle. Maybe the lesson in all of this, is that the Indian-American minority in this country needs to assert itself more and become more visible, to prevent such slights from occurring in the future.
